What to Expect
This safari offers a perfect blend of primates, wildlife, and landscapes. From tracking gorillas in dense forests to observing chimpanzees during their habituation process, each experience is unique and deeply engaging.
You’ll also enjoy scenic drives through rolling hills, peaceful lakeside moments, and classic African wildlife encounters on the savannah plains.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi
Your journey begins with pickup from Kigali, followed by a scenic drive through northern Rwanda via Musanze toward the Uganda border. After crossing, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for your overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family.
The trek can take several hours depending on their location. Once found, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Travel to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Africa’s most beautiful lakes. Spend the afternoon relaxing, canoeing, or exploring local communities while enjoying the cool breeze and scenic views.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Journey through the stunning Kigezi Highlands toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. Descend into the Rift Valley and arrive in time to relax at your lodge.
Day 5: Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Start the day with a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, where you may spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, known for its high concentration of hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife.
Day 6: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, travel to Kibale National Park, preparing for the next day’s chimpanzee experience. Optional community walks can be arranged in the afternoon.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience
Spend a full day in Kibale Forest participating in a chimpanzee habituation experience. Unlike standard trekking, this allows extended time with researchers and chimpanzees as they adapt to human presence.
You’ll observe feeding, nesting, and social behaviors—offering a deeper understanding of these fascinating primates.
Day 8: Transfer to Kampala or Kigali
After breakfast, begin your journey to Kampala or return to Kigali, marking the end of your safari.
