This unique trekking and safari itinerary takes you through Nyungwe Forest, Lake Kivu, the Virunga Mountains, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park. Along the way, you will hike scenic trails, explore traditional villages, and encounter Africa’s incredible wildlife—including chimpanzees, elephants, zebras, lions, and the rare mountain gorillas.
A highlight of the journey is the opportunity to trek through the dense forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to some of the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas. Day 1 – Departure
International flight from your home city to Kigali via Istanbul.
Day 2 – Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Huye
Arrive in Rwanda’s vibrant capital, Kigali, and begin the journey south. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, an important site that provides insight into Rwanda’s history. Continue through Rwanda’s rolling hills toward Huye.

Day 3 – Nyungwe Forest Canopy Walk
Travel to Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. Experience the famous canopy walkway, suspended high above the forest floor, offering incredible views of the jungle canopy and wildlife such as colobus monkeys and chimpanzees.
Overnight: Uwinka Camp
Day 4 – Nyungwe Forest Hiking Adventure
Trek the Imbaraga Trail, passing waterfalls and dense rainforest while spotting monkeys, birds, and possibly wild chimpanzees. Later drive to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes.

Day 5 – Lake Kivu Boat Trip & Congo-Nile Trail Trek
Enjoy a scenic boat excursion to Napoleon Island before beginning a short trek through banana plantations, coffee farms, and lakeside villages along the Congo-Nile Trail.

Day 6 – Congo-Nile Trail Trek & Transfer to Musanze
Continue hiking along the dramatic shores of Lake Kivu before driving north toward Musanze, gateway to Rwanda’s famous Volcanoes National Park.

Day 9 – Trek from Rushaga to Nkuringo
Hike along ridgelines bordering the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, passing small farms and traditional villages.

Day 10 – Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi National Park
One of the most memorable experiences in Africa: tracking mountain gorillas in the wild. After trekking through dense forest with experienced rangers, spend one hour observing a gorilla family.

Day 11 – Bwindi Forest Trek to Buhoma
Hike through the remote rainforest landscapes of Bwindi before transferring to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 12 – Tree-Climbing Lions & Kazinga Canal Safari
Morning game drive in the Ishasha Sector, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions. In the afternoon enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Canal, where hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds gather.
Overnight: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Day 13 – Chimpanzee Tracking & Lake Mburo Safari Walk
Visit Kalinzu Forest for chimpanzee tracking before continuing to Lake Mburo National Park for a guided walking safari among zebras, impalas, and buffalo.

Day 14 – Game Drive & Transfer to Entebbe
Early morning safari drive before traveling across the Equator toward Entebbe.
